Join us at an international youth seminar against hate speech!

 

Estonian Human Rights Centre and the German Embassy in Tallinn invite youth participants aged 18-25 to an international workshop:
“Examine, participate, change – workshop on hate speech for young people.”
A workshop will be held on
November 16 in Estonia,
at the Tallinn Botanical Gardens.

Hate speech promotes hatred or violence against individuals or groups based on certain characteristics. Hate speech is not protected under freedom of expression. We will discuss hate speech – what are the impact and consequences of hate speech, and brainstorm solutions for future campaigns against hate on social media. At the end of the workshop, participants will create a social media campaign against hate speech in group work. The winner group will be awarded an opportunity to work out a campaign against hate speech.

We are looking for participants among young people ages 18 to 25 years:

10 young Estonian speakers,

10 young Russian speakers,

5 young people from Germany and 5 German speakers in Estonia.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The working language of the event is English. Organizers will provide the participants with lunch and coffee breaks during the event, and cover travel expenses for young people outside Tallinn.
